Sandrine Rousseau wants to “reduce the speed on the highways” in order to save fuel. It also proposes other measures in this direction.
Like every year or so, the debate about speeding on the highways resurfaces. Between ecological and economic arguments, the context of 2022 lends itself perfectly to a return to the debate. One of the first personalities to take an interest in it is none other than Sandrine Rousseau.
This July 26, the ecologist deputy of the 9th district of Paris thus pleaded in the morning of Europe 1 for a speed reduction on highways. This in order to promote fuel savings. Asked about it, she said: ” sure, [il faut] reduce speed on highways.
A little phrase that will not fail to go unnoticed, in the midst of other measures of the same kind defended by the elected. Let us thus quote the greater use of telework and multiple projects in favor of public transport, in order to reduce car use. This both in his daily journeys and when going on vacation.
110 km / h on the highway, the French favorable?
However, such a measure is debatable. In effect, the 130 km/h limit does not prohibit driving at 110 km/h. It is therefore possible, for each motorist, to save money personally by driving at the speed he wishes (as long as it is neither too fast nor too slow).
And so much the better, because number of users already limit their speed to save money. According to an Ifop survey, 60% of our compatriots would be in favor of reducing their speed to 110 km/h on the motorway in a personal way. This is to save fuel. A situation that affects especially the most vulnerable.
Let us also recall that Elisabeth Borne spoke, ” personally “ in favor of 110 km/h on the highway. Still, the example of the passage to 80 km / h in 2018 could cool any politician wishing to modify the rules related to speed.
