The 2021 MotoGP Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix has been full of surprises. Between the coronation of Fabio Quartararo and the astonishing fall of Francesco Bagniaia, action was required in Misano! Here are the notes of the pilots.
Pilot Notes
Marc Marquez (1st): 9/10 → Despite his handicap, Marc Marquez has shown that he has not lost any of his talent and know-how. The very intelligent Spaniard has shown an impressive pace and wisely waited for his time to come.
Pol Espargaro (2e) : 7/10 → The Spaniard drove brilliantly. Like his teammate, he made no mistake and knew how to wait for his time to come.
Enea Bastianini (3rd): 8/10 → Trapped in qualifying, by wet conditions, the Avintia rider stood out on Sunday on his circuit. Starting from 18th position on the starting grid, the Italian started at a frantic pace, climbing to the third step of the podium.
Fabio Quartararo (4e): 10/10 → The world crown is worth all the results and all the marks in the world.
Johann Zarco (5e) : 6/10 → The French, yet very comfortable on a wet track, stood out on Sunday when it was dry. Starting in 10th position, Johann Zarco showed consistency and aggressiveness to overtake and climb up to 5th position.
Alex Rins (6e) : 6/10 → Author of a good start, the Suzuki driver directly projected himself in the top 10. All he had to do was survive in the face of the assaults of Quartararo, Zarco and Bastianini.
Aleix Espargaro (7th): 6/10 → The Aprilia rider, like his counterpart, took the luxury of a good start. In order to only have to defend in the race.
Maverick Vinales (8e) : 7/10 → The Spaniard also distinguished himself. He has not lost any of his talent and quite the contrary! Even on a bike that was worse than the rest of the field, Maverick Vinales was able to start a comeback from 17th to 8th position.
Luca Marini (9e): 4/10 → Very good under wet conditions in qualifying, Luca Marini did not manage to survive against the big names, unlike his counterparts.
Valentino Rossi (10e): 8/10 → For his last home race, The doctor danced on the Misano floor. Starting from 23rd position on the starting grid, Valentino Rossi made no mistake. He was able to seize opportunities and survive in this GP, to offer his audience yet another top 10 in his career.
Brad Binder (11e) : 5/10 → The South African lived up to his reputation. Without making too much waves, he made his way in this oh so active race.
Michele Pirro (12e) : 6/10 → The Ducati rider remained very discreet in this GP. But he was able to take advantage of the superiority of his Ducati on this track which suited him perfectly to gain 10 places in this race.
Andrea Dovizioso (13e): 5/10 → The Italian failed to get his Yamaha to work as he wanted. Despite everything, he remained constant and in place in this GP. As a result, he obtained a modest 13th position.
Franco Morbidelli (14e): 4/10 → Starting in 6th position, the Yamaha rider was overwhelmed on all sides. However, in his defense, he must be given a little more time.
Takaaki Nakagami (15e): 4/10 → The Japanese is the last to survive in this chaotic GP.
Francesco Bagnaia (DNF): 2/10 → The Italian managed to lose the title and a victory, having achieved pole position and having led most of the GP. He loses everything on a ground that he knows so well. The fall is fatal …
Miguel Oliveira (DNF): 3/10 → The Portuguese driver was nevertheless off to a good start in this GP. A new podium was at hand. But the pace to keep up was too great, as well as the fall that goes with it.
Jorge Martin (DNF) : 3/10 → The Pramac pilot wanted to play with stronger than him. While he was in the top 10, Jorge Martin made a series of mistakes. The fall was finally predictable.
Iker Lecuona (DNF): 3/10 → Like his teammate, the opportunity was good to take to bring points back to the KTM house. But unfortunately, it is not.
Alex Marquez (DNF) : 5/10 → The young brother of the Spanish prodigy had a good race, until his motorcycle let him go …
Jack Miller (DNF) : 3/10 → Wanting to focus too much on something else, the Australian finally got fooled by himself.
Danilo Petrucci (DNF) : 4/10 → The Italian was also unlucky. After a good start to the race, he was taken out by Joan Mir during a weapon pass.
Joan Mir (DNF): 3/10 → Once again, the opportunity was good to seize, but the Spaniard broke down on this track where it is difficult to overtake.
