With the MG 4, MG will cut prices in the compact electric segment. The starting price will be €5,000 lower than that of the Mégane E-Tech.
With each new model, MG marks the spirits in terms of price. We therefore expect the same thing with the MG4 Electric, a brand new compact that will be launched this fall with us. Good news: it’s getting there.
On the occasion of the opening of pre-reservations, the manufacturer indicated that the starting price will be under 30,000 €. Contacted, MG confirmed to us that it is indeed a price without taking into account the bonus which is still €6,000 (and should drop to €5,000 in 2023). This starting price corresponds to the model with the 51 kWh battery which gives a WLTP autonomy of 350 km, with a block of 125 kW, or 170 hp.
MG will therefore shake up the market for electric compacts. A Renault Mégane E-Tech starts at €35,200, with a 130hp motor and 40kWh battery that gives a range of 300km. The old Nissan Leaf, with a 40 kWh battery and a range of 270 km, starts at €35,150. However, it benefits from strong discounts.

We will of course have to wait for the final prices and the details of the equipment to make a better comparison. But the MG4 should confirm a very aggressive positioning. It will also interfere with electric city cars! For example, an electric Opel Corsa of 136 hp with 360 km of autonomy starts at 33,800 €… being less spacious.
If you want to be among the first served, MG has therefore opened a pre-reservation campaign. The first 500 customers who come forward will receive a gift of a domestic charging cable (220V-EU plug) worth €268 and a universal MG charging card with a credit of €300.
