Does Google take into account the setbacks of Facebook concerning the protection of young people, in particular on Instagram ? In any case, the internet giant seeks to show that it takes care of the exposure of the youngest on the Web. The search engine now allows minors or their parents or guardians to fill in a form to delete content and in particular the images on which they appear. It is a note of blog from Google which explains the procedure and gives access to this form. To disappear from indexing, the youngest must list the different URLs of the images published as well as the requests research that led to these results. This new policy for the protection of minors had in fact already been announced in August and it was yesterday that Google activated its launch.
Big limitations on deindexing
But, be careful, this does not mean that these images will be deleted from the Internet. They are simply deindexed from the search and join the big cohort pages from deep web, that is, unreferenced pages. Likewise, if the minor’s images are indexed for reasons related to current events or public interest, they will not be deleted from the search engine’s database. Another limitation, if the person is of legal age, they can no longer request the deletion of indexing of his photos as a minor. And there is even more restrictive, because in reality, the pages mixing both text and images are not affected by this deletion. In reality, this only applies to viewing photos in image search results.
