On this Monday, August 22, 2022, the Climate and Resilience Law passed a year earlier now prohibits the promotion of fossil fuels and certain types of fuels. To the detriment of the consumer.
This August 22 marks the implementation of a flagship measure of the Climate and Resilience law. Indeed, according to this text promulgated last year, it is now banned from advertising for fossil fuels. This includes in particular the promotion of offers on various fuels.
Thereby, finding good plans will be more difficult. Nothing to benefit the consumer, all the more so in this period of high prices. Michel-Edouard Leclerc, boss of the eponymous centers, had also protested against this ban, last May.
On France 2he thus assured that“from August 22, for the start of the holidays, I will no longer have the right (to make a “gift” to customers). This is the climate law. It wasn’t silly, the idea was to stop promoting fossil fuels.”. Nevertheless, he believed that “Even if there is an ecological emergency, I think we have to let people like us sell cheaper fuel and be able to say« .
A first ban of the Climate law
For now, oil, energy from coal or carbonaceous hydrogen are concerned by this ban. The fuels whose renewable energy content is greater than or equal to 50% however, are not on the prohibited list. An exemption until June 30, 2023 also affects natural gas.
However, this is only a first step. In the years to come, the bans will multiply. Thus, it will no longer be possible to make the promotion of the most polluting cars by 2028. The Climate law also concerns the establishment of low emission zones (ZFE). And even more recently the obligation for navigation applications (Waze, Mappy, etc.) to offer less polluting routes and alternatives to the car.
