Fuel error in the tank: how to react correctly?

Fuel prices are falling at the moment but that does not prevent us from making mistakes. Only here, putting the wrong fuel in its tank can have unfortunate consequences.

To err is human and getting the wrong gun when refueling can happen. It is inevitably regrettable, but we will see today how to react well in such a situation.

First of all, you should know that a fuel error can quickly prove to be very costly. In effect, wrong handling at the pump can lead to many problems on a car.

Engine failure, start of fire, the consequences are multiple and never positive. But as we have just said, being wrong can happen and that is why it is important to react well.

The ideal is therefore to realize this quickly in order to notify a tow truck as soon as possible. It is necessary at all costs avoid starting the car and if this is the case, switch off the ignition and move away from the vehicle. The convenience store can then take care of draining and purifying the tank or simply taking the car to a mechanic to take care of it.

It is also possible that the service station workers have something to clean up and fix this careless mistake. It costs nothing to ask.

What about insurance then?

As for reimbursement, it always depends on the insurer and the type of contract. But most of the time, the latter will be able to take charge of the repair and even the emptying.

But if the engine is affected, the cost of repairs will quickly increase. It is therefore very rare to see an insurer cover these expenses.

Of course, this is not necessarily the case for everyone and some agree to cover the costs, but a significant penalty will then be applied.
