Charging stations: boost for the development of Zeplug

The French start-up has raised 240 million euros in funds. It also bought one of its main competitors, Bornes Solutions.

Zeplug, born in 2014, specializes in charging stations for individuals who live in condominiums and businesses. With a view to accelerating its development in France, but also to launch on other European markets (United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland) and in the United States, the start-up has announced a large fundraising.

Via its infrastructure investment fund, the British company “Intermediate Capital Group PLC” is investing 240 million euros in Zeplug. Incidentally, Zeplug buys Bornes Solutions, one of its French competitors, which was in the portfolio of ICG.

Zeplug offers turnkey charging solutions, with the installation and maintenance of terminals. The condominium market represents good prospects. To date, the number of condominiums equipped with terminals remains minimal, around 2% in France. However, there is a right to take.

For Zeplug, the transaction will also allow it to invest in its R&D, in particular to develop its technological platform, with additional functionalities for smart charging, energy optimization and the rationalization of the overall cost of the infrastructure.
