Expected at the beginning of next year, the new Renault Kadjar has been glimpsed on the roads of Île-de-France.
After seven years of marketing, it is now time for the Renault Kadjar to make way for a new generation, which will have the difficult task of making people forget the failure of the current one. Because with only 9,300 units sold since the start of the year, the family SUV is still very far behind its rival, the Peugeot 3008, with more than 43,000 registrations, placing itself in 7th position in the ranking of the best-selling models. in France. Suffice to say that the diamond firm will therefore have a lot to do, and will have to offer this new version a style revised in depth, in order to return to a race far from won.
Because the restyling, which took place in 2018, will not have really changed the situation, with minimal efforts, no doubt to better focus on this new version, now under the leadership of the former style boss of Peugeot, Gilles Vidal. If it will still be necessary to wait before discovering the definitive style of the SUV, we had the chance to see a prototype circulating on the Nationale 118. Still very heavily camouflaged, this one nevertheless lets glimpse some additional details compared to the images already on the run. Indeed, the model visible on our exclusive images seems to be fitted with its final rims, which should in particular equip the most upscale versions, in view of their dimensions. Although not very visible, the front is also uncovered, now showing a little more widely its grille, as well as its lights, which should benefit from a new design, hopefully more aggressive.
Underside of Qashqai
For now, we still know very little about this new generation of the Renault Kadjar, which will take over the CMF-C platform from the Nissan Qashqai, also recently renewed. The firm has not given any information on the range of engines, but we should find the petrol units of 140 and 158 horses of the latter, associated with a 48 volt micro-hybridization. The first sounds of corridors also evoke a hybrid version of 190 horsepower as well as a rechargeable variant, although nothing has been confirmed. We will therefore have to wait until its revelation, scheduled for the beginning of next year to find out more. The entry ticket should turn around € 30,000 in its entry-level version.
