Successor to the Kadjar, the Renault Austral is about to arrive in dealerships. Detailed review of this new compact SUV available in five finishes and four hybrid engines between 33,400 and 44,900 €.
Orders for the new Renault Austral have been open since September 20. Assembled at the Renault plant in Palencia (Spain), the SUVSUV is based on the CMF-CD platform which is also used for the Nissan Qashqai. Barely longer than the Renault Kadjar it replaces, the Austral plays in the compact SUV category, a segment in which it notably faces the Peugeot 3008, Kia Sportage, Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota RAV4 and Citroën C5 Aircross.

The Renault Austral inaugurates a new design combining taut lines and fluid curves. The front mask, the grille and the headlights merge for a stylestyle both imposing and sporty. The lower part is also identical to that of the electric Renault Mégane E-Tech.

Balance from €33,400: 130 hp mild hybrid engine and gearbox vitessevitesse manual, rims alloyalloy 17 inch, parking aid, 12.3 and 9 inch screens.
Techno from €35,900: 130 hp or 160 hp mild hydrib engine (automatic gearbox) or 200 hp petrol/electric full hybrid (multimode automatic transmission), 19-inch alloy wheels, mixed leather/fabric upholstery, 12-inch infotainment system .
Techno esprit Alpine from €38,800: a special series featuring the Techno finish with “Alpine spirit” badge, exclusive satin shale gray colour, front bumper with sport blade, 20-inch daytona alloy wheels, rear lights with “3D moiré” effect, upholstery cloth-Alcantara with blue stitching, nappa leather steering wheel and blue/white/red stitching. Two engines to choose from: mild hybrid 160 hp or full hybrid petrol/electric 200 hp.
Iconic from €40,200: 2-inch diamond-effect alloy wheels, two-tone paint, heated front seats, motorized tailgate, regulatorregulator stop & go adaptive speed sensor 360° 3D camera for parking assistance. Two engines to choose from: mild hybrid 160 hp or full hybrid petrol/electric 200 hp.
Iconic esprit Alpine from €44,900: Iconic and Alpine finishes mentioned above with electric driver’s seat with massage function, mixed fabric upholstery carbonecarbone / alcantara, active driver assist, high comfort front headrest. 200 hp full hybrid petrol/electric engine.
On all models, drivers will be able to link a Google account to access applicationsapplications Google Play, Google Assistant and Google Maps for assisted navigation.
