Foxconn is pulling out all the stops to become a major player in electric cars. Its new Foxtron brand is preparing to present two new models, including an ambitious electric compact.
Of all the players in electronics to invest in the automobile. Foxconn is one of the newest, but also the most active. Its ambition in the sector ranges from the supply of components to its own dedicated brand through design or production services for other manufacturers. The announcement of the Foxtron brand a year ago was accompanied by the presentation of three projects: the Model E sedan, the Model C SUV and the Model T bus, in partnership with the industrialist Yulon.
The presentation of the Model C under the name of Luxgen n7 does not call into question the Foxtron brand. She is indeed destined for an international career while Luxgen should be content with the Taiwanese market. On October 18, Foxconn will hold its annual conference, Hon Hai Tech Day 2022. Automobile will be discussed and two new models will be announced.
A compact for large volumes
Foxtron has been announced with two D-segment models. But the brand is also aiming for large volumes and the next model will be a compact, the Model B. A future rival of the Volkswagen ID.3, MG 4, Renault Megane… Its arrival in Europe However, it is not yet confirmed and Foxconn plans to produce it in its American factory in Lordstown. The style is signed Pininfarina, based on the MiH platform shared with the Model E and Model C. The details will be known on the 18th, but we can already see LED optics capable of communicating messages to other users, in the manner of what the Chinese Hiphi is already doing.
A pickup for America
Also planned for production in Lorsdtown, here is the Model V. A pick-up that seems to fall into the category of 1-tonne pick-ups (Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma / Hilux, etc.). Inevitably, if we talk about electric pickups and Lordstown, we can imagine a technical rapprochement between this Model V and the Lordstown Endurance. Foxconn specifies that this is a model designed entirely in-house. This is already the case for the design signed internally and no longer by Pininfarina. Here too more details should be communicated on the 18th.
