Although it only has one market-leading model, Polestar continues to see strong growth. After the publication of its first three quarters, the young manufacturer confirms its initial objectives.
Polestar thus draws up a very positive assessment of its start to the year in terms of production. After 30,000 sales in three quarters, the manufacturer is still aiming for a target of 50,000 electric cars in 2022. It is the firm’s CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, who explains the reasons why he is not adjusting the targets.
“We have made significant progress in the first half of 2022”Ingenlath said. “We doubled our revenue and our volume, and we successfully went public. In addition, we maintained strong momentum in our global order intake. »
“We expect to deliver 50,000 cars to our customers this year, which matches our sales forecast for 2022. With several game-changing cars to come, Polestar is poised for a period of rapid growth. »
A final sprint towards the end of the year
Rapid growth that should materialize from the fourth quarter of 2022. Indeed, according to Ingenlath, it is possible to deliver 20,000 vehicles in the last quarter. However, the manufacturer sold 30,000 copies in three quarters, with 9,215 units between July and September. In addition, its market is based on a single model with wide distribution, the Polestar 2.
But two main arguments make it possible to hope to achieve the initial objectives. The brand has indeed already produced a large number of the copies scheduled for delivery in the last quarter. Additionally, the improving Covid-19 situation in China should help it ramp up production.
“We needed to catch up with production after the Covid-19 setbacks in China and we did. The majority of Polestar 2s scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter are ready to be delivered to our customers in 27 markets around the world. »
“The fourth quarter is expected to be the strongest on record. I am confident that we will reach our target of 50,000 cars for this year. »
