Ora presents its Funky Cat at the Paris Motor Show, but also a more imposing electric sedan concept that will follow it a little later.
Owned by the Chinese group Great Wall Motors, the manufacturer Ora came to the Paris Motor Show 2022 with the Funky Cat, but not only! The brand presents on its stand a model that we had not seen coming, but not unknown for all that: the Ora The Next Cat.
Taking the form of a 4.87 m long sedan for only 1.50 m high, the one that does not yet have an official name is however already sold in China under the name of Lightning Cat. This name was also used on the concept car presented at Frankfurt in 2021. The style evokes the Funky Cat at the front (itself inspired by the Volkswagen Beetle and Mini, among others) while the rear recalls a Porsche Panamera . The rear part has imposing and ovoid lights. You’d think the drop-top sedan had a tailgate from the cutout, but that’s not the case: it’s actually a small trunk.
A European presentation
On board, the T-shaped dashboard is very European in its presentation. There is a 12.3-inch floating central screen in the center, complemented by digital instrumentation integrated into three round barrels behind the steering wheel. The overhead center console has a few physical buttons for the air conditioning, and the entire cabin is upholstered in brown or white leather on the two models presented on the stand.
The performance should be more than sufficient, since Ora announces 408 hp and 680 Nm of torque. The sedan comes standard with all-wheel drive. The 0 to 100 km / h is announced in 4.3 s, despite a weight of 2.2 tonnes. On the autonomy side, Ora announces 430 km on the WLTP cycle thanks to an 83 kWh battery.
For the moment, Ora does not communicate any release date. First rumors claim that it will not be available before 2024, a little after the Funky Cat scheduled for the end of 2023. The sedan “The Next Cat” should however arrive in Europe, first in certain markets such as Germany .
