In recent months, in Occitania, a scam for the sale of used cars has been rife. Six people were reportedly killed and an investigation is underway.
More than 100,000 euros! This is how much the loot collected by this scammer amounts to. His strategy? Organize fake used car sales on the internet.
The offender was using famous buy-resale sites such as LeBonCoin or even La Centrale, specialized in the automotive industry.
Using a real Siret number and a valid address, the scammer first asked for an advance of 10% on the sale of the car either, for example 2 320 euros. Then, to complete the latter and “speed up the sales process”, the seller asked for the full amount.
Only here, a few months later, none of the six victims received the car.
An ongoing investigation
