The Renault Sandouville factory has been shut down since October 24 until November 1, due to a shortage of infection calculators.
The employees of Renault Sandouville (Seine-Maritime) will experience a less lively end of October than usual. The factory in which they work is indeed closed since Monday, October 24, until November 1. A one-week stoppage due to a shortage of infection calculatorssupplied by Bosch, details Paris-Normandy Le Havre.
A decision was therefore made to close the site. This during an extraordinary social and economic committee (CSE), held this Monday, October 24 at the end of the morning. A decision that will not delight employees and unions, which complain about these untimely stops for many months.
The production of Renault Traffic, in particular, therefore risks being impacted. The order book is indeed filled and the Losange has set up a recruitment campaign, to cope with this influx of orders. To see if the factory will be able to start again on November 2.
Another setback for Renault Sandouville
This is a new blow for Renault. Indeed, car factories are regularly arrested since 2020. Blame it on various shortages. “Usually,” so to speak, is for semiconductors. Parts manufactured mainly in East Asia. A territory still undermined by Covid-19, which prevents the work and exports of these materials from being done correctly.
At the end of September, the Douai factory had been shut down, for this reason of a shortage of semiconductors. Earlier in the year, in April, this same infrastructure had been stopped for a similar reason. Stellantis’ tricolor factories are also regularly affected by these problems.
Recall that Renault expects the shortage of semiconductors extends until the second half of 2023. Enough to create new temporary closures of certain factories.
