Newly retired Roger Federer participated in the creation of a unique example of Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE Performance, all dressed in yellow. It is for sale at auction.
A few weeks after the announcement of his retirement, the famous tennis player Roger Federer resurfaced, but for a completely different reason. This time, the Swiss player is put forward by the auction house RM Sotheby’s, which offers for sale a Mercedes-AMG GT 63S which he partly designed.
On November 26, the Motorworld auction organized by specialist RM Sotheby’s will be held in Munich (Germany). Among the lots, we therefore find this astonishing Mercedes-AMG GT, which is no longer called GT Coupé 4-door since the discontinuation of the coupé variant. We owe it to tennis legend Roger Federer, who has also been an ambassador for the Mercedes brand for several years.
As colorful and fast as a tennis ball
Federer thus marks the end of his 24-year career by participating in the design of this unique model. This one is painted in neon yellow “Electric Beam”, which obviously recalls the color of the balls used by the player during his life. The copy has never been registered, and the buyer will therefore be the first owner. In addition to its color, the model also receives the signature of the tennis player.
The copy is based on the latest version of the sports sedan. Sold since the beginning of the year, this new hybrid model from Mercedes-AMG delivers 839 hp thanks to a 4.0 biturbo V8 of 639 hp associated with a 150 kW (204 hp) electric motor placed at the rear. Thanks to this unprecedented cavalry from the manufacturer, the performance is in tune, with 1400 Nm of torque, 2.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h and 316 km/h at top speed. The very small 6.1 kWh battery allows you to drive all-electric for only a dozen kilometers, but that is not the point of this hybridization.
Estimated at over €200,000
This uniquely configured model is already estimated between €200,000 and €250,000 by RM Sotheby’s, which is offering the lot without a reserve price. The auction house says proceeds from the sale will go to a charity public tennis project in London.
