A motorist driving a Volkswagen Golf 8 Type R was arrested by the Marne gendarmes at 264 km / h on a motorway.
The case dates back to November 12 but it has only just been revealed by the gendarmes of the Marne. On their Facebook page, the latter revealed that they had intercepted a car controlled at 264 km/h on a highway, near Gueux (Marne). The speed recorded by the radar was 258 km/h.
The vehicle concerned, a Volkswagen Golf 8 Type R, was chased by the police Seat Cupra. Registered in Luxembourg, the car was then driven to the Thillois toll, at the entrance to Reims. The driver’s license has been immediately retained. He had to have someone come to pick him up. The car left for its part in the administrative pound.
The driver being a foreigner, he had to pay a deposit of 750 euros. The court alone will decide whether or not to return his vehicle to him. The author of the facts risk a maximum fine of 1,500 euros and a judicial suspension of up to three years.
