A Mexican enthusiast holds the record for the largest collection of miniatures and derivative objects bearing the image of the film Cars.
If you are a car enthusiast, you are most likely familiar with Cars. This animated film, released from Pixar studios in 2006 and followed by two other opus tells the story of Lightning McQueen, star of the circuits and his friends, Martin, Sally, Doc Hudson and a whole bunch of other protagonists all more each other crazy. Very popular with young and old alike, with its endearing characters taking the form of cars of all makes and models, such as the Porsche 911, the Fiat 500 or the Jeep Willys, the trilogy has inspired its fans. We do not count the number of derivative objects from the saga, whether miniatures, plush toys and t-shirts of all kinds.
To tell the truth, it is difficult to enter a house without seeing an object bearing the image of one of the heroes of the film. But some have decided to go even further, and start a real collection. This is the case of the American Jorge Arias, which has no less than 1,200 objects derived from the saga. An unusual adventure started a few years ago thanks to his daughter, who then asked him to buy him a figurine in order to be able to play with his neighbor. Instantly seduced by this quirky universe, Jorge then fell in love with the characters in the film, to such an extent that he started a collection, recently entered in the Guinness Book of Records.
A place of pilgrimage
Jorge Arias’ amazing story even reached the ears of the Cars movie crews a few years ago. Brian Fee and Andrea Warren, respectively director and co-producer, even decided to go to Mexico where our passionate resides, in order to meet him. On this occasion, they also offered him a unique drawing of Lightning McQueen, as well as an invitation to the premiere of Cars 3, released in 2017. Since then, the shelves of our collector have grown, and visitors from all over the world come every year to see these miniatures and derivative objects.
