The American manufacturer Lucid Motors has started delivering the first European copies of the Air, its luxury electric sedan.
A great rival of its compatriot Tesla, Lucid Motors has just taken a decisive step by making the first deliveries of the Air on European soil, more precisely in Germany and the Netherlands. The large electric sedan is available at launch with the limited series Dream Edition, offered in two different versions. Like its rival, there is a Performance version, strong of 1,111 hp, shooting down the 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 s and able to accomplish up to 799 km in a charge according to the WLTP cycle, and a Range version , with 933 hp and 883 km of range, all at prices starting at €218,000.
Thanks in particular to its unique 900 V architecture, the Lucid Air is the charging champion. The Grand Touring, which is not yet marketed on the Old Continent, can thus reach a peak of a power of 300 kW, which would allow it to recover 400 km of autonomy in 15 minutes.
Lucid continues to accept customer reservations from 14 European countries for all Air trim levels in exchange for a fully refundable €300. This gives you the right to be put on a waiting list, but you will then have to take your troubles patiently since there is only one factory, located in Casa Grande, Arizona, where the future electric SUV of the brand, the Gravity, from 2024. The construction of another site in Saudi Arabia is however planned.
In the meantime, the brand has had to revise its ambitions downward precisely because of a production speed below predictions, going from a target of 20,000 models per year at the start of the year to now between 6 and 7,000. In the fourth quarter, Lucid still needs to produce 2,313 units to reach the minimum figure, but it seems possible, since 2,282 Air were created in the third quarter.
A few days ago, Lucid Motors opened its third European store (as well as its first dealership for maintenance and delivery) near Amsterdam, after those in Munich and Geneva.
