This Wednesday, January 4, in the evening, a car was hit by a train near Lamonzie-Saint-Martin, in Dordogne. Luckily, there were no injuries to report.
When crossing the rails of this level crossing, the car’s engine fails. Worthy of a bad B-storyline, the driver is forced to see that her car is no longer moving when she is in the middle of the railway line.
An extremely dangerous place, especially since, a few meters further on, a TER has just left the station of Lamonzie-Saint-Martinin his direction.
In an emergency, the two occupants of the car get out at full speed and then assist, helpless, to the collision between the train and their car. Luckily, the train has just restarted and its speed is still very moderate. The collision is therefore not violent and no traveler in the TER is injured, just like the owner of the car and her passenger.
With hindsight, the driver and her passenger can consider themselves lucky to have had good reflexes by leaving the vehicle quickly. without insisting on restarting.
However, there is something to be angry about. That is true, this car’s engine really chose the worst possible place to stall!
