The rules of the ecological bonus changed in depth on January 1, 2023. Automobile-Propre tells you which vehicles can benefit from it and which aid is paid according to your income.
New passenger cars
Which vehicles are affected?
- Electric and/or hydrogen vehicles.
- The vehicles of which the acquisition price does not exceed €47,000including the cost of the battery.
- Vehicles whose mass in running order does not exceed 2.4 tonnes.
- The vehicle must be purchased or leased for a minimum of two years. It is registered in France in a definitive series.
What are the amounts?
For a “natural person”, the ecological bonus is set at 27% of the acquisition cost TTC within the limit of 5 000 €. But if your reference tax income per unit is less than €14,090, the bonus is increased by €2,000, i.e. up to 7 000 €.
Legal persons have a bonus of €3,000.
The conditions that the buyer must respect
- The buyer must be domiciled in France.
- The vehicle must not be sold within one year of its purchase or lease, nor before having traveled at least 6,000 km. Otherwise, the bonus amount must be returned.
- The same person can only benefit from one bonus every three years.
New vans
Which vehicles are affected?
- Electric and/or hydrogen vehicles.
- The vehicle is purchased or leased for a minimum of two years. It is registered in France in a definitive series.
What are the amounts?
For a natural person, the bonus is set at 40% of the acquisition cost of the vehicle within the limit of 6.000 €. But if your reference tax income per unit is less than €14,090, the bonus is increased by €2,000, i.e. up to 8 000 €.
For a legal entity, the bonus is €4,000.
The conditions that the buyer must respect
- The buyer must be domiciled in France.
- The vehicle must not be sold within one year of its purchase or lease, nor before having traveled at least 6,000 km. Otherwise, the bonus amount must be returned.
- The same person can only benefit from one bonus every three years.
Overseas Over-Bonus
For new vehicles (cars and utility vehicles), the bonus is increased by €1,000 if you live overseas (Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique, Mayotte, Reunion) on condition of driving there with the new vehicle for at least six months.
Used cars and vans
Which vehicles are affected?
- Electric and/or hydrogen vehicles.
- The vehicle must be at least two years old.
- The vehicle is purchased or leased for a minimum of two years. It is registered in France in a definitive series.
What are the amounts?
The amount of the ecological bonus for a used vehicle is €1,000 for natural persons. Corporations have nothing.
The conditions that the buyer must respect
- The buyer must be domiciled in France.
- The vehicle must not be sold within two years of its purchase or lease.
- The vehicle concerned must not belong to a member of the same foyer fiscal.
- The same person can only benefit from one bonus every three years.
