No need to wait to discover the second generation of Mercedes-AMG GT. The sport is already displayed in its simplest device on the net.
Photos of the new Mercedes-AMG GT have been circulating on the internet since this weekend. We can see the sportswoman at the Star – it’s a first – without the slightest camouflage in what is similar to an official communication. A small misfire for the German manufacturer and good news for those who couldn’t wait any longer. Even if, and we suspected, the design of the 2023 vintage will not surprise anyone.

A coupe SL, no more doubt
It was rumored that the second generation of AMG GT would be, in a way, the coupe variant of the new SL, it is now confirmed. Same grille (known as “Panamericana”, inaugurated by the late AMG GT, the first of its name), same headlights, same double bossing on the engine cover, the SL and the AMG GT have exactly the same muzzle in the design of the lower part of the front shield close. But the latter should differ anyway depending on the version chosen, it is a habit at Mercedes. The profile and the side glazing, which we were able to discover while admiring the first spyshots, are also similar. No really, the look of the AMG GT 2023 will surprise neither the owners of the old model nor those of the SL. We understand in any case the rumors that said that the convertible would not be renewed on the next version of AMG GT. No need since it already exists, it’s the SL…
Equally technically close to the SL, in any case most likely
The connection between these two models goes further than that. Unlike its ancestor, which was a Mercedes production, the latest generation roadster was designed by AMG, the brand’s sports department. Hence its full name: Mercedes-AMG SL and no longer Mercedes-Benz SL. But if the latter wants to be sharper than ever, the AMG GT should go even further. This is why in addition to the 381 hp 4-cylinder with micro-hybridization and the 585 hp V8 that the AMG GT should share with the SL, we can expect the coupe to take over, for example, the hybrid package rechargeable seen recently on the S 63 E Performance with, at the end of the day, 802 hp and a torque of 1,430 Nm. Be careful, however, the price and the weight would then expect peaks…
