Replaced in early 2020 by a third generation, the Ford Kuga will already receive a big powder coating from 2022, in the vein of the Fiesta and Focus restyled recently.
Ford launched its third-generation Kuga in early 2020, but is already preparing to offer it a big update. Prototypes of the American twin Escape, already crossed in full test in the United States, allowed our in-house illustrator to imagine what he will look like in 2022.
Cosmetic update
Like the Fiesta and Focus recently restyled, the Kuga will review its front panel with a grille enlarged and placed more in height, revised bumpers and new optics finer. This in order to give it more stature and personality, while standardizing the SUV with the rest of the range. The profile does not change, except on the side of the rims with new proposals. At the rear, the lights should also be reviewed, although the photos of the prototype are not very telling at the moment.
The Kuga should take advantage of the restyling to partially review its dashboard, with a larger central touchscreen (13.2 inches instead of 12.3 inches, as in the restyled Focus) and equipped with the brand’s latest OS, Sync 4, which is more intuitive.
Nothing new under the hood
Finally, on the engine side, we should see some minor changes, the range is already very wide and up to date. The diesel is gradually giving way to hybrid variants, with a unique 1.5 EcoBlue proposal of 120 hp. The Kuga should therefore remain faithful to the FHEV hybrid and PHEV plug-in hybrid units., respectively at 190 hp and 225 hp. The plug-in hybrid could, on the other hand, improve its autonomy, which is already very suitable with 56 km of autonomy and up to 68 km in the urban cycle. Note that Ford is one of the few, if not the only one, to offer an E85 variant in its range. On the Kuga, it is associated with the simple hybrid version of 190 hp, to reduce consumption as much as possible.
The revamped Ford Kuga (and its American twin Escape) is expected to be presented at spring 2022, for marketing in the fall of the same year.
