Dacia announces the arrival of a new Extreme finish for the Spring, associated with a new electric motor. More powerful, it has 65 hp and will be marketed from €22,300.

On the occasion of the 2023 Brussels Motor Show, Dacia announces the arrival of a new Extreme finish to replace the top-of-the-range Expression on its small electric Spring. But more than that, it’s a new, more powerful engine that the brand is installing under the hood of this version.

A new 65 hp engine

Launched in the spring of 2021, the Spring is Dacia’s first 100% electric model. It is derived from the Renault K-ZE sold in China since 2019, itself designed after the Kwid imagined for emerging markets such as India or Brazil. Thus, it has so far capped at 44 hp thanks to its small electric motor, hardly reaching 125 km / h. Enough to confine the model to the city. But customers who want a little more versatility can now count on a more powerful engine.

This block develops 65 hp (48 kW) and is associated with a new specific reducer, making it possible to multiply the torque transmitted to the wheels. Thus, Dacia affirms that it provides better performance: acceleration and pick-up are improved over an extended range of use. For the moment, the brand does not give a technical sheet, but we imagine that the 0 to 100 km / h will be much better than for the basic version, which announces 19.1 s! The autonomy of this new block of 65 hp is almost similar, with 220 km in the mixed WLTP cycle, and up to 305 km in the urban cycle according to Dacia.

The high-end Expression replaced by the Extreme finish

This electric motor will only be available with the new Extreme finish. A name already used on the other models in the range, and which comes here to replace the high-end Expression finish already chosen by more than 8 out of 10 private customers according to the brand. The entry ticket is set at €22,300 (excluding bonuses), or €1,500 more than the 45 hp version still in the catalog, and only associated with the entry-level Essential.

The Extreme finish stands out with a new Slate Blue color and “Copper Brown” painted elements such as the roof rails, the mirror caps, the wheel centres, the Dacia logo and the inserts under the front headlights. There are also stickers with a topographic pattern on the front doors (a nod to the “snorkel” of the Duster) and the protections at the bottom of the doors. Brown is also found on the stitching on board, and on the inserts of the door panels, the air vents and the contour of the block of the 7-inch touch screen supplied as standard on the Spring Extreme. Finally, there is also an embossing of the Dacia emblem on the front seats, specific floor mats and door sills with a topographic pattern. The equipment also includes the reversing camera and the integrated navigation.
