New sales record for BMW’s sports division. This is pulled up by the electric models!
2022 has been a banner year for BMW M, the sports branch of the Bavarian brand. Already, to celebrate its 50th anniversary with dignity, the label has multiplied the novelties, with in particular the second exclusive vehicle in its history, the XM, a rechargeable hybrid XXL SUV.
Above all, 2022 ended with a new sales record. Proof that this is not the economic crisis for everyone! Resisting the shortage of semiconductors, BMW M delivered 177,257 vehicles worldwide last year, an increase of 8.4% in one year. Its largest market remains the United States, ahead of Germany and the United Kingdom.

Interesting fact: BMW says the best-selling M-badged model in 2022 is 100% electric. This shows that customers are not put off by such a transformation and that Motorsport has already succeeded in its electric shift. This is the i4 M50.
Well, some purists will argue that it’s not a real M, it’s not actually called M i4, but rather an “M Performance” type car, halfway between the classic offer and the M the most extreme. But there are still two engines for a maximum cumulative power of 544 hp. The M3 sedan, the thermal equivalent, is at 510 hp. It goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, the same time as the i4 M50!
M’s electric offer also includes the 644 hp iX M60, and will be completed in 2023 by the i7 M70. BMW is also working on the next generation of its connected M, it is testing a prototype with four independent electric motors!
