We did not necessarily expect it, the Jeep Avenger was crowned hands down Car of the Year 2023 at the end of last week. This is the very first time that the American brand has won this election: it will have had to offer a zero-emission and simple 2-wheel drive vehicle (at least for the moment) to achieve this, like what!
But the most surprising is not that because, after all, this novelty is not quite one: it is only a DS 3 or a re-bodied Opel Mokka, when you think about it. And then, if it is a small revolution for Jeep, it does not fundamentally bring anything new. Not like the Kia EV6 elected last year which democratized with its cousin, the Hyundai Ioniq 5, technologies hitherto reserved for much less accessible vehicles. If we will have to wait to try it to determine if it is pleasant to drive and live in everyday life, the Avenger already has for him to be a 100% electric model, which seems to be a criterion of choice to present for the members of the jury.
And then, when we compare it to the other 100% electric vehicles that were finalists in the election (the Nissan Ariya, the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra cousins and the VW ID. Buzz), it has another advantage, that of being the most accessible from the lot. We wanted to check to what extent the government aid made it even more attractive financially on a principle equivalent to what we recently did for the Dacia Spring. We were therefore particularly interested in the Jeep Avenger, the first price displayed at €36,500, excluding bonuses, equipped like all the other versions with the 156 hp electric motor and 54 kWh battery combo in the basic finish with frankly not ridiculous equipment: auto air conditioning, 10.25″ touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The true price of a new Jeep Avenger depending on your situation
- If your reference tax income per unit (RFR/unit) is less than or equal to €6,358
- OR if your RFR/share is less than or equal to €14,089 but the distance between your home and your place of work is greater than 30 km OR you drive more than 12,000 km/year with your own vehicle for professional reasons
This is the most interesting situation with, regardless of where you live in France, a guaranteed price of €23,500 by deducting the superbonus of €7,000 as well as the maximum conversion bonus which reaches €6,000. €. If you live or work in a ZFE-m, the price will drop another €1,000 to reach €22,500, or even €20,500 if the local authority is generous.
Base price of €36,500 – €7,000 ecological bonus – €6,000 conversion bonus (optional: – €1,000 to €3,000 ZFE surcharge) = from €20,500 to €23,500
- If your RFR/share is less than or equal to €14,089 and the distance between your home and your work is less than 30 km
If you find yourself in this situation, the amount of the scrapping bonus is reduced to €2,500. It will then cost you €27,000 for the base Jeep Avenger. And between €24,000 and €26,000 if you are near a ZFE-m.
Base price – €7,000 ecological bonus – €2,500 conversion bonus (optional: – €1,000 to €3,000 ZFE surcharge) = from €24,000 to €27,000.
- If your RFR/share is less than or equal to €22,983
This bracket still concerns 30% of households. If your RFR/unit is between €14,090 and €22,983 inclusive, you will only benefit from a bonus of €5,000 in this year 2023. The amount of the conversion bonus is, as before, 2 €500.
Base price – €5,000 ecological bonus – €2,500 conversion bonus (optional: – €1,000 to €3,000 ZFE surcharge) = from €26,000 to €29,000
- If your RFR/share is greater than €22,983
Since the beginning of this new year, the richest French people can no longer receive the conversion bonus. If you find yourself in this category, you can still subtract €5,000 of ecological bonus from the base price of the Avenger. The pocket adventurer will cost you €31,500.
Base price – €5,000 eco-bonus = €31,500
Balance sheet: really interesting from a financial point of view
Whether your salaries are high or not, the Avenger remains relatively accessible for an electric model. Whether compared to its direct competitors and cousins, mentioned above, but also compared to models that have made their prices one of their main sales arguments. We think for example of the MG ZS EV available from €37,990, excluding bonuses with a 156 hp engine. All the more interesting that, despite a larger battery (70 kWh), the autonomy of the Sino-British SUV is not really higher: 440 km against 404 km for the Jeep. The latter could therefore have a real card to play in the category.
Finally, note that all versions can take advantage of the maximum ecological bonus (you will have understood, from €5,000 to €7,000 depending on your situation). At the prices mentioned above, you just need to add €1,500 to €6,000 depending on the finish chosen.
