More nerve, that’s what the electric van that Volkswagen has just made official promises. What do we already know about the ID Buzz GTX?
Unhappy contender for the title of Car of the Year 2023, the already cult ID Buzz gave some indications of its future on the occasion of the presentation of the famous trophy which finally saw the Jeep Avenger win. It is through the voice of Kai Gruenitz, head of Volkswagen’s Research & Development department, that our British colleagues fromAutocar learned of the forthcoming arrival of a supercharged variant of the modern-day Combi.
heavy tribe
From this year, the Volkswagen ID Buzz will take over the future four-wheel drive chain promised to the ID.7 sedan, whose presentation will not be long in coming. To do this, an electric motor will be housed on each axle in order to accumulate 250 kW, or approximately 340 hp. Will it be enough to transform the placid (204 hp) converted van into a racing beast? Insofar as 299 hp are already barely on board the little brothers ID.4 and ID.5 GTX weighing more than 2.2 t on the scale, one can doubt the dynamic capacities of an ID Buzz which will happily exceed the 2.5 t.
Especially from the look
Whatever, it will mainly be for the ID Buzz GTX to animate the classic range via a variant with a devastating look, equipped with wide rims, a grille grille and specific bottoms of cases, as well as colors in tune. The passenger compartment will not be outdone, with the addition of more enveloping seats in the front. Finally, let’s bet that the running gear will stiffen to optimize stability at high speed. In short, the ideal Combi for surfers in a hurry.
