At the Tokyo Auto Salon, Lexus demonstrated that electric SUVs could also be fun with the RZ Sport Concept.

In the wake of Toyota, Lexus is slowly turning towards the total electrification of its models. It all started with the UX 300e, and now it’s the turn of the new Lexus RZ to continue the story. But the Japanese brand will not forget the sporty fiber that is also part of its DNA and shows it at the Tokyo Auto Salon with the Lexus RZ Sport Concept.

Shaped under the supervision of pilot Masahiro Sasaki, the electric SUV has received heavy modifications to display its ambitions. And they are particularly cosmetic, with a body kit made up of impressive carbon aerodynamic appendages: fins behind the wheels, double tailgate spoiler, … Everything is there.

The Lexus RZ Sport Concept retains its 313 electric hp

The SUV’s trim has been lowered by 35mm on 21-inch Volk Racing rims and shod with 295/35 Bridgestone Potenza tires. This dictated the widening of the fenders with extensions that would not be ashamed on a Super GT starting grid.

However, electrical technology requires, mechanical modifications are absent subscribers. This Lexus RZ Sport Concept therefore retains the engine of the RZ450e, with two electric machines for a total of 313 hp. This proves once again that the preparation will revolve mainly around the style and the chassis with the electric cars. No matter, the machine is terribly attractive!
