Car rental company Hertz will offer 25,000 electric vehicles to Uber drivers based in Europe, including those in Paris.
Uber and Hertz are partners in North America. They announced this week the extension of this partnership to Europe. The rental company plans to make up to 25,000 electric vehicles available to Uber drivers in the capitals of the Old Continent by 2025.
It starts with London, from this month of January, then the cooperation will be extended to Amsterdam and Paris during 2023. Hertz indicates that a wide range of electric vehicles will be offered to Uber drivers, but the emphasis will be on Polestar and Tesla . Hertz had also signed a giant order for 100,000 vehicles from Tesla and 65,000 vehicles from Polestar.
The partnership serves the green interests of both parties. Uber aims to become a zero-emission platform in Europe and North America by 2030. Hertz wants to build one of the largest electric rental fleets in the world. The agreement signed on the other side of the Atlantic is also a success: nearly 50,000 drivers have rented a Tesla thanks to this program, carrying out more than 24 million 100% electric journeys for a total distance greater than 400 million electric kilometers.
For Paris, we should find Tesla, Polestar still not being present in France. The prices are not yet known. To help its drivers switch to electric, Uber had put in place aids, which should therefore be taken into account.
