Lightyear’s proposition seems to be attractive and the number of pre-bookings seems high. As a bonus, Arval, a major player in the long-term rental sector, has just committed to a large order for Lightyear 2.
Barely two weeks after the official publication of the first images and the first details, the Lightyear 2, which promises 800 km of autonomy for 40,000 €, seems to convince, especially customers who are necessarily more sensitive to the notion of efficiency than to the 0-100 km/h acceleration figures touted by Tesla.
By taking the opposite view of the American manufacturer’s approach, the Dutch start-up is responding to customers neglected by the proliferation of large electric SUVs… There are no official figures on the level of pre-bookings, but it suffices to read your comments in the subject of presentation to see that in France several hundred potential customers have already made themselves known to Lightyear.
And the figures have just grown quite singularly. Arval, a division of the BNP Paribas group specializing in LLD, especially with professionals, has just committed to a nice order: 10,000 units of Lightyear 2 which will be offered to its customers. Arval is not the first, since another European LLD giant had already committed to this second model of the brand. LeasePlan had thus signed a contract for 5,000 copies in December 2021.
These figures are rather encouraging for the start-up. However, it is not known what the volume objectives are for this second electric / solar Lightyear 2 model.
