If the company TotalEnergies had prepared for today’s strike, nothing says that it will be the case the next times…
We told you earlier today, the mobilization against pensions is quite massive. According to the CGT, there would be “between 70% and 100% of strikers” on the TotalEnergies sites. According to the figures we have, there would be, to be more precise, 70% for example at the Feyzin refinery, a little more, 72%, within the establishment located in Normandy. At the Mède refinery, it would quite simply be 100% of the staff on permanent contracts working on the 3×8 rhythm who decided to go on strike. And many are the temporary workers who would also have started on this same site. Still, the company isn’t worried about it. Well, not too much for the moment…
Stocks “at a satisfactory level”
Just yesterday, Patrick Pouyanné, CEO of TotalEnergies, wanted to reassure French motorists at the microphone of our colleagues from BFMTV: “Don’t panic, stocks are full, service stations are well supplied”. Knowing that the strike notice was filed in advance, that the latter was known to all, the company had made its arrangements.
“Dangerous” precautionary purchases
However, there is a phenomenon that concerns TotalEnergies, that of precautionary purchases. This too is not a surprise, the president of the UFIP, Olivier Gantois, whom we interviewed at the start of the week, said he was concerned by the Frenchman “who only comes once a month, still has enough to last 3 weeks and decided to come and fill up as a precaution. The CEO of TotalEnergies totally agrees. “I have seen that some want to make precautionary purchases. And these precautionary purchases are dangerous because they can put the system in tension unnecessarily ”, he specified to BFMTV.
The next few weeks could be more complicated
Another subject of concern, what about the demonstrations over time? “If a day will not affect the operation of refineries. The refineries stop if it’s several days of strike,” added Patrick Pouyanné yesterday. However, it is precisely expected that the next events will be spread over longer periods. The next movement will last 2 days. It will even be 3 days for the strike which will start on February 8th. And there could be overflows….
