Private radar cars: these areas where they will not flash
ADVERTISEMENT

According to a document published by mistake by Road Safety, private radar cars do not control certain areas.

Private radar cars would they not verbalize in cities, small towns or certain axes around these areas ? This is what suggests a document published by mistake by Road Safety, at the beginning of the year. The latter was relayed by the site Radars-auto. Supporting document and maps, they claim that some areas are spared.

Thus, in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), radar cars do not venture inside the city ring road. The latter is also poorly controlled. Ditto for Le Mans (Sarthe), of which the city and the interior of the peripheral boulevards are spared. This is not the case for the main axes around this area, marked by numerous checks.

A phenomenon that is not limited to large cities. Indeed, the more modest agglomerations are also flash free. Radar cars pass well through these places, located on their route. The controls are also well done. However, the radar is not calibrated at the right speed to record infringements in zone 50. This therefore does not lead to no verbalization. This is evidenced by the data recorded in Arsonval (Aube), Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat (Haute-Vienne).

A will on the part of Road Safety?

This tendency not to flash in certain areas is surprising. Indeed, the privatized radar cars can flash at 80 km/h or 90 km/h as well as at 50 km/h. The equipment installed for the controls is well approved for this.

The fact of not flashing in certain areas can therefore be seen as a desire for road safety. A technical difficulty related to the GPS sensor specific and cameras to read speed limit signs is also possible.

On roads with multiple lanes, however, this is different. Indeed, the car must be positioned to control only the boundary lane to its left. Which would amount to monopolize the left lane for no reason.
