On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Twingo, Renault is celebrating the city car with several events. The stand at Rétromobile will be partly dedicated to it, and a concept car will be created using artificial intelligence.
The Twingo is already 30 years old! To celebrate this important anniversary, which also marks its entry into the world of collecting, Renault has pulled out all the stops. The “frog”, which had a long career with nearly 2.5 million copies between February 1993 and June 2007, will be one of the stars of Retromobile.
Six Twingo exhibited at Retromobile
On its stand at the Rétromobile show (February 1 to 5, 2023), the brand will exhibit several examples of the city car born in 1993: traditional versions, but also special versions such as the luxurious and rare Twingo Lecoq or the Twingo Coupe Prototype coursified in 1995 A retrofit variant is potentially planned, as shown in a video posted on LinkedIn by Arnaud Belloni, the Losange’s marketing director.
On the video, we also note the presence of the R5 Turbo 3E concept car presented at the Chantilly Concours d’Elegance and at the Paris Motor Show. At his side, a new green R5 Turbo which could be a retrofit, and two 4L potentially motorized by an electric block too.
“It’s up to you to invent the life that goes with it!”
In addition to this animation at Rétromobile, Renault is also planning an unprecedented participatory campaign. The brand is bouncing back on the slogan used in its “frog” advertising campaigns by offering its fans the chance to play with artificial intelligence to imagine a reinvented Twingo. Since AI software is now easily accessible to everyone on the internet, it will serve as a basis for creating Twingos that are out of the ordinary. They can be flying, underwater, space or chocolate… Renault gives some examples, to discover in the photo gallery.
The public is invited to use online artificial intelligence software such as MidJourney, Stable Diffusion or Dall E to design a visual, simply from keywords. Then, the creation must be posted between February 1 and March 31, 2023 on their favorite social network, with the hashtag #ReInventTwingo. These visuals will then serve as the basis for the creation of an original concept car.
