The cooperation agreement between Volkswagen and Ford includes, among others, the Ford Ranger / Volkswagen Amarok duo. On the other hand, the Ford Everest SUV (derived from the Ranger) is not included in the lot. But Ford’s scale platform (T6) could still see the birth of other models, with priority for electrics.
Because Volkswagen has not abandoned the idea of an electric 4×4 with better off-road capabilities than its current ID SUVs. Discussions with Ford would therefore continue about an electric version of the Amarok, but also an SUV that would be derived from it. A model already nicknamed ID.Ruggdzz following the typology of the brand’s different electrical concepts. We already know that Ford is working on an electric Ranger, to be launched in 2028. An electric Everest is also on the program. An “ID Amarok / ID Ruggdzz” duo seems to be more of an administrative formality than a technical difficulty.
If the overall philosophy is similar (SUV and all-terrain and electric pick-up), this new model will have nothing to do with the Scout brand that the German group wishes to launch. The latter is only planned for North America, on a dedicated platform. The ID.Ruggdzz will bear the Volkswagen coat of arms, and will for its part be intended for Europe.
