If 2022 will have been the year of the Renault 5, now in its fifties, today it is Peugeot’s turn to celebrate the anniversary of its “sacred number”, the 205, which turns 40 in this new year.
In just one month, the Peugeot 205 will celebrate its 40th anniversary. It is therefore not for nothing that the Sochaux brand waited today before presenting its program for the 47th edition of Rétromobile, the doors of which will open in a few days, the day of the 24th being symbolic. The show will mark the start of the festivities… which we hope will be a little more festive than what the press release suggests.
Everything or almost for the series of “4”, and almost nothing for the “sacred number”
Because yes, surprisingly, especially for a model that has marked the manufacturer’s history to such an extent and remains to this day the best-selling Peugeot of all time (5,278,054 units produced between 1983 and 1999), the Lion doesn’t say much about the exhibition planned for his “damn act”. At most, we know that we can admire a “rare” 205 GTI Griffe from 1991 there. For the rest, we understand that there will be other copies, but that is implied, not explicitly stated. We will have to wait until January 31 to find out which ones. On the other hand, besides that, we know that, from the 401 to the 408, all the Peugeots of the “series 4” will be present. It’s a bit sad for the 205, isn’t it?

Besides, the same, what about the program in the coming months? Nothing is said. Only Club 205 had already invited us all at the end of last year to reserve our place at the Peugeot Adventure Museum next July, from 5 to 7 to be more precise, for an event revolving around the city car. Many 205s are obviously expected (around 200 models at the moment). There are also multiple stands for clubs and professionals, you can take a guided tour of the museum or the production lines of Sochaux. Many other various activities will be planned, all the details are not yet known. On Saturday evening, a big dinner followed by a dance party will be organised.
