After a failed burglary, he burns his car for nothing

It’s an incredible and comical story that hit the headlines in a village. That of two burglars who are caught. During his escape, one of them crashes his car, sets it on fire, before going to report the theft the next day. The deception is discovered and the two find themselves in court, minus one car.

M. and J., the two friends, began their crazy night with a drive, followed by an innocent walk in the village in question. A not-so-innocent walksince one of the two has spotted a garage in which there is an electric bicycle and a motorcycle.

A flight gone wrong

While one grabs the bike, the other grabs the motorcycle but they are spotted and each flees on his side. The victim had indeed been notified by neighbors. In his flight, M. takes his car back, then… throws him against a telephone pole. The bad luck! Picked up by a member of his family, he comes back with enough to set fire to the vehiclejust that.

The car is on fire and the owner’s companion goes declare the theft of the vehicle to the gendarmerie the next day. A deception that does not last long. The president of the jury judging the two men summarizes this evening:

“The victim had been notified by neighbors. It’s a small village, everyone knows each other. You were both surprised by the dogs. “You (M., Editor’s note) get back in your car, you leave and you hit a telephone pole. You are picked up by a family member. Then you come back and set the car on fire. The next day, you ask your partner to report the theft of your car to the police. It is a false statement. »

The explanations do not make the judges doubt

The explanations of the defendants, M. asserting in particular that they did not steal the motorcycle, will not change the prosecutor’s opinion. The latter is asking for eight months in prison as well as a road safety awareness course for M. and four months in prison for J. The court followed these requisitions.
