Through stolen photos and exclusive illustrations, Auto-Moto reveals the main lines of the restyling of the Audi A3, expected in the coming months.
Despite its relative youth, since released in 2020, the Audi A3 already seems to be working hard to finalize its restyling. While a breath of fresh air blew on the current Mercedes A-Class last summer, the facelift of the BMW 1 Series should occur in the coming months, but the Audi could follow suit very quickly, against all odds. The camouflaged prototype which has just been surprised by our scoop hunter suggests a very advanced development, to the point that this new A3 could lift the veil on the new finery before the end of the year.
Do not leave the field open to the future Series 1
Very clearly, the current compact from Audi takes a dim view of the updates of its two German competitors. And in particular those which will very soon benefit the Series 1, its parents having decided to completely renew its dashboard to give it the benefit of a large digital panel including two screens, including a touch screen, in the manner of the Class A. ‘Audi A3 therefore has a lot to worry about in terms of interior services. However, there is little chance that the Ingolstadt model will revolutionize its cockpit. Indeed, the introduction of this type of XXL screen should only be inaugurated next year on the future A4.

It is therefore outside that most of the changes are expected, on this new A3. The shape of the optics will not change one iota, it seems, but new frames of daytime running lights will be applied to it. The prototype hunted by our paparazzi very clearly reveals an unprecedented light signature reminiscent of a checkered flag, probably being a sporty S3 variant. Lower, we can see redesigned ventilation grilles within a shield that rejects any protruding edges. In this regard, the outline of the grille will be softer, borrowing from Latin, in line with the brand’s new stylistic policy.
In profile, the rims should also benefit from new designs, although the crossover development model in Lapland displays already known wheels. The changes will be more striking at the rear, the new A3 seeing its daytime running lights take the form of arrows. Lower down, the shield will also ensure a unique style, as evidenced by the vertical reflectors. For comparison, they fit horizontally on the current one.
Reinforced electrification
It is still too early to come up with any ideas about the evolution that engines will experience. Blocks hybridized to 48 V could be part of the game, while those rechargeable, to date two in number (204 and 245 hp), could accumulate higher power levels, just as they will see their autonomy substantially 100% electric progress.
An A3 AllStreet in addition
The revelation of this new Audi A3 could take place at the end of the year, before the first deliveries expected in early 2024. A complete renewal of the range which will probably go hand in hand with the launch of an adventurous variant, slightly raised, called AllStreet. A time hoped for last summer, the latter seems to have postponed its presentation to take advantage of the media lighting which will be devoted to the restyling of the entire range.
