From 2025, Jaguar will be a 100% electric brand. The British is preparing an unprecedented range. We should get a glimpse of it this year.
For two years, Jaguar has been idling. And this will continue for two more years! Why ? Because in 2021, Thierry Bolloré, a Frenchman who had just been appointed head of the Jaguar Land Rover group, decided to transform the feline into a 100% electric brand with a radical method: we erase everything and start over.
Even the new electric XJ project, which was almost finished, was thrown in the trash. Thierry Bolloré had judged the car not technically up to standard. It has therefore launched the development of a whole new range, designed on a platform dedicated to electrics, even if it means virtually abandoning the existing models, which hold up as best they can with small restylings and special series.
Thierry Bolloré left at the end of 2022 (for personal reasons), but Jaguar’s program remains the same. Adrian Mardell, his interim replacement, confirmed that the planned schedule was well followed and that the first novelty of the reinvented Jaguar will be launched in 2025.
During the presentation of the group’s latest results, Adrian Mardell indicated that vehicles are being tested and that the construction of the new range will be finalized by the end of the first half of 2023. He recalled the group’s strategy to quickly succeed in this switch to electric: not to do everything but to forge many partnerships. Some are already known, as with nVidia, others will be announced in the coming months.
2025 is still a long way off. Adrian Mardell has therefore hinted that a preview of the future range should be given this year, even if he did not specify the form. We are obviously thinking of a concept car.
