In addition to the 30th anniversary of the Twingo, Renault surprises visitors to Rétromobile with the presentation of a concept car reinterpreting the hot-rods of the 1940s, with electric sauce.
The Retromobile show is an opportunity for Renault to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its famous Twingo with great fanfare, but not only. The Renault stand also gives pride of place to electric vehicles, with several old vehicles converted to electricity thanks to the magic of retrofitting: concept R5 Turbo 3E, concept Suite N°4 and 4L Parisienne as well as another retrofitted Twingo… but also an amazing hot rod!
When the 1940s-style hot rod meets the electric fairy
Baptized “Mute the hot rod”, this astonishing show car is based on a 1924 Renault Type MT “whose restoration was not possible” according to the brand. Its body is inspired by the world of speed racing and the hot rod of the 1940s. On the other hand, the vehicle is equipped with a 100% electric traction chain for the modern side. Renault does not specify which electric motor is used, nor the battery capacity or performance figures. We just know that the concept transmits power to the rear wheels and that it uses a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

The Renault Mute is 3.60 m long and 1.60 m wide. The study is equipped with drum brakes, and does not have rear suspensions. The weight is not given, but should be contained. Previewed as a raw project at the Rétromobile show, the finalized show car will be presented by the brand in the summer of 2023.
