Zeekr X: a future cousin of Smart #1 and Volvo EX30

Zeekr, a young brand from the Chinese group Geely, plans to land in Europe with several models including this new SUV called X.

The Geely galaxy is very vast, with several brands within it: Volvo, Lynk&Co, Polestar, but also Smart and Lotus or even Zeekr. The latter is not yet offered in Europe but should arrive in 2024 on the Old Continent, with several proposals including a new electric SUV called X.

The young Chinese brand has just presented photos of the electric SUV, which is based on the same SEA base of the group, which the Smart #1 or the future Volvo EX30 use in particular. The dimensions are close to those of a Peugeot 3008 with 4.45 m long (including 2.75 m wheelbase) for 1.84 m wide and 1.57 m high. The lines are sharp and angular, reminiscent of Lynk&Co. The door handles are hidden, and a large part of the body is painted in glossy black (roof, mirrors, wheel arches, diffuser) to offer a look that is both adventurous and sporty.

Little technical information for the moment

For the moment, Zeekr gives very little information on this SUV X. We only know that it would reach 100 km/h in 3 to 4 seconds. Logically, the SUV should therefore take over the engine of the Smart #1 cousin, with two choices: a 272 hp rear-wheel drive version and a 428 hp four-wheel drive variant like the Smart # 1 Brabus, which cuts the exercise in 3, 9 sec. Regarding the battery, we do not know if the Chinese manufacturer will renew the 66 kWh pack of the Smart or another battery to offer more autonomy.

The Zeekr X should arrive in China in the second quarter of this year, with a more detailed presentation at the Shanghai show next April. It should then reach Europe a little later, by 2024, with Scandinavian countries as a priority, where demand for electric cars is higher. France could be served later.
