The Belgian manufacturer Cowboy is launching a new version of its electrically assisted bicycle with a minimalist design, which for the first time is available in two frame versions, one of which has a low rise to appeal to a wider audience.
Like VanMoof, Gogoro or Angell, Cowboy is one of the manufacturers of electric bikes for whom the design must be distinctive. The Belgian brand plays on a style sleek, with its removable battery integrated into the seat tube and its completely invisible cable passages. She just unveiled her new Cowboy 4 which marks an important evolution since it is for the first time available in two frame versions: the classic Cowboy 4 and the Cowboy 4 ST with low spanning. The latter offers a more upright driving position, a little less sporty than that of the C4. The C4 ST is aimed at customers measuring between 155 and 190 cm while the C4 is intended for cyclists measuring between 170 and 195 cm.
For the rest, the design retains its sobriety but the Cowboy 4 adopts new black colors, feet and sable. Good news, Cowboy decided to include the mudguards in the standard equipment whereas they were optional until now. The frame is still in aluminium and we find the belt in carbone Gates, less messy and more enduring than a chain. The motorization integrated into the rear hub increases in terms of torque, which increases to 45 Nm against 30 Nm on the Cowboy 3. A significant gain which should result in more responsive assistance when starting and climbing. On the scale, the Cowboy 4 displays 18.9kg while the Cowboy 4 ST is at 19.2 kg.
Support smartphone Quad Lock et charge sans fil
The removable 360 Wh / 10 Ah battery can provide up to 70 km of range, which is the same compared to the Cowboy 3, as does the charging time of 3.5 hours. On the other hand, Cowboy is innovating quite a bit in terms of the connectivity of its electric bike, which includes a Quad Lock smartphone holder directly on the stem. But you will need a Quad Lock shell that can be found for the main Android and iPhone models at around 30 euros. Installed on the Cowboy 4, the mobile can also benefit from wireless induction charging from the bike’s battery.
The Quad Lock system integrated into the Cowboy 4 stem
To complete these developments, Cowboy announces a major update to its application mobile for Android and iOS coming this summer. It will introduce a new home screen that will distill information on the conditions weather forecast, the quality ofair, forecasts of consumption and battery life as well as a trip history. The assisted navigation will offer 3D maps with suggested routes that will take into account theair quality index to ensure the healthiest possible journey. To this will be added various statistics on the distance, the speed average, the height difference as well as the calories consumed. A new community function will offer the possibility of joining group cycling outings organized in European capitals.
The Cowboy C4 and C4 ST are available for pre-order from today at a price of 2,490 euros. Deliveries will start from September. We note a small decrease in price for the Cowboy 3 which goes from 2,290 to 2,190 €, but with the mudguards included which was not the case when it was released.
