The Ford Pro Electric Supervan will be present when climbing Pikes Peak. The 2,000 horsepower electric van will take on the mythical hill climb.
For several years, electric cars have been a delight for spectators at Pikes Peak. It is also an electric vehicle, the Volkswagen ID.R, which holds the record for the famous hill climb.
We already knew that several electrified cars would participate this year. In the 100% electric, a Rivian R1T pick-up will be at the start, but it will not be alone among the ‘zero emission’ cars.
Thus, there will also be the electric Ford Supervan, already seen at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last summer. More specifically, it is the “Ford Pro Electric Supervan”, in which we were able to ride in 2022. It continues a great tradition of Ford minivans entered in competition, but it is the first that is electric.
Romain Dumas will take the wheel. A former endurance rider, he set the record with the ID.R in Colorado. His experience will not be too much to tame the 2000 horsepower of the vehicle.
Despite its less sporty physique than the car with the record, the Supervan could set an impressive time. What beat the time of 7 minutes 57 seconds 148 that Dumas had signed in 2018? Answer on June 25, 2023.
