Ionity inaugurates two new high-power charging stations in Mornas (Vaucluse). Strategic sites located on the A7, the Autoroute du Soleil
If you are going on vacation this summer, perhaps you will take the famous Autoroute du Soleil, otherwise known as the A7. A particularly busy motorway axis, connecting Lyon to Marseille. The latter is strategic for many motorway players, in particular operators of electric charging stations.
The latest example concerns Ionity (builder and operator of the charging network). The company has just opened two sister stations of this kind, in Mornas (Vaucluse), on this famous axis. It is its largest and most powerful site created at present. It offers a total of 32 high power chargers up to 350 kW.
The roof is notably equipped with solar panels, in order to provide a power supply. Weather protection blinds are a novelty, as are the possibility of paying by credit card from spring 2023this on all newly built sites.
Meet the high demand for summer holidays
With these new investments, Ionity wants to be able to meet the high demand during the summer holidays. In 2022, many images of long queues have been circulating on social networks, as motorists wait to recharge their electric vehicles.
Ionity counts today 120 charging stations in France, with 10 more under construction. 576 charging points are available. The company boasts figures similar to those of the oil leader.

let’s remember that the authorities were aiming for the number of 100,000 charging stations in the territory in 2021. A goal that should finally be achieved at the start of 2023. Witness the words of Christophe Béchu, Minister for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, questioned on February 22 on franceinfo.
“The objective (of 100,000 terminals) will be reached in the coming weeks. We started the year with already more than 80,000. We are at one million charging stations available in the country but in public spaces, we will be at 100,000 in the coming days. The next issue is the fast charging stations. »
