The modern version of the DeLorean will finally have a shorter life than expected. The 9351 copies envisaged by its manufacturer will not all see the light of day.
Although the situation is improving for some automakers, shortages remain significant. This has an impact on start-ups and brands that do not produce large volumes. This will be the case for the electric DeLorean Alpha5, whose production will be smaller than expected.
Initially, the start-up planned to manufacture 9351 copies of the electric sedan with two butterfly doors. But problems in the supply chain forced the company to scale back.
Thus, there will ultimately only be 4,000 units of the electric DeLorean Alpha5. The one that wants to be a modern reinterpretation of the mythical car of the saga Back to the future will therefore be a rarity.
Additionally, DeLorean announced that $2,500 reservations are available in limited quantities. As soon as reservations exceed 500 copies, the price will increase to $3,000. When we reach 1,000 units, the price will increase up to $3,500, and so on with each bar of 500 pre-orders.
In an attempt to convince potential buyers, the firm promises them that they will receive a random copy number upon reservation, as well as an NFT of their vehicle. A platform will also allow customers to exchange their reservation number, if they wish to have a lower number.
