In February, the Spring confirmed its start to the year with a bang. It overtook the Model Y and e-208, which also outperformed. The MG4 is already ready to overtake the electric Mégane.
The French car market is still recovering. In February, passenger car sales increased by 9.4% compared to February 2022, resulting in 126,237 registered cars. However, we remain far from pre-Covid crisis levels, since more than 160,000 cars had been registered in February 2020 (last month before the start of confinement).
February 2022 had also been a weak month, weighed down by semiconductor shortages and logistical problems. Concerns that are just beginning to be resolved by manufacturers. Added to this are also the doubts of customers in the face of inflation. Moreover, Dacia is in great shape at the start of the year!
In this complicated situation, sales of 100% electric cars continue to grow. They accounted for 16% of deliveries in February! Over the first two months of the year, their market share is 14.4%, compared to 10.8% in 2022.

Which electric cars were the most sold in Europe in 2022?
This growth is explained by the success of several models, starting with the Dacia Spring. As in January, it is at the top of the ranking, with a hell of a score: 2,872 registrations, up 113% compared to February 2022. On the second step of the podium, we find the Tesla Model Y, which proves, with 2,485 registrations, that France is not just a market for small city cars. Next comes the Peugeot e-208, which also took off in one year: 2,092 registrations, + 167%.
The Fiat 500, 4th, confirms its success with 1,919 sales. Then there is the Megane, with however a score that already seems modest: 1,069 registrations. Consequence: the French is followed by the MG4! The Chinese firm has registered 1,004 connected low-cost compacts. The car is thus ahead of the Tesla Model 3 (872 sales) and once again the Renault Zoé, which can no longer do so (795 sales, – 27%). The top 10 is completed by the Renault Twingo (779 sales) and Hyundai Kona (522).
Over the first two months of the year, the Dacia Spring crushes the market with already 4,783 sales. It is ahead of the Fiat 500 (3,517) and the Peugeot e-208 (3,429). The Tesla Model Y, well helped by its price drop and its bonus, does better than the Renault Megane.
