Michael Bay (Transformers) destroyed 354 cars during his directing career. A record, for creations on the big screen.
Michael Bay is the director who destroyed the most cars on the big screen. This is revealed by a study conducted by Scrap Car Comparison. The director from Los Angeles (California), who himself recently admitted to having “probably destroyed more vehicles than any other director in history” is well ahead of this very American ranking.
Thus, the latter has smashed no less than 354 cars during his directing career. Which is far, far ahead of Justin Lin, director of the reference saga in the genre of destruction, Fast & Furious. The gap between the two is 219 cars (135 for Lin).
Michael Bay’s “destructive” journey is notably marked by the first Transformers movie. No less than 37 cars were destroyed there ! The average per film of vehicles reduced to mush is also impressive: it is 24 cars per creation ! In his carnage, Bay notably destroyed a Shelby Cobra 427 vintage against a concrete wall in Bad Boysin 1995. The following year, a Ferrari 360 was gloriously ending its days in The Rock.
Michael Bay, a life of destruction
Born February 17, 1965, Michael Bay first specialized in making music videos. It’s with Bad Boys that he gets into the film industry, thus inaugurating the destruction of its first cars on the big screen.
He continued his career with other great films like Armageddon or Pearl Harbor. To the saga Transformers (started in 2007) allows it to to turn particularly to the world of the car and assures him a huge success. Blockbuster specialist, he makes special use of special effects. Dan Gick, Managing Director of Scrap Car Comparison, is therefore not surprised to see the latter top the top 10 directors who have destroyed the most cars on the big screen:
