Dacia: after the Spring, the new high-end Extreme finish extends to the rest of the range

Formerly a limited series that has become a regular finish on the Spring, the Extreme livery extends to the rest of the range. An adventurous look but not only and prices that are somewhat off the beaten track for Dacia.

From a simple top-of-the-range limited series, richly equipped and with a neat “outdoor” type presentation available only on the largest Dacia models, the Extreme livery has recently become a finish in its own right on the Spring and it even had the privilege of be associated with a brand new, more powerful engine delivering a whopping 65 hp (the 44 hp engine is retained but it cannot be chosen with the Extreme level). We imagine that customers were there since it extends to the rest of the range, with the exception of the “normal” Sandero. On the adventurer variant Stepway, it is placed just above the previous high-end Expression. On the Duster and Jogger, it permanently replaces the limited series of the same name. What does it bring and does it drive up prices indecently?

Adventure with a capital “E”

The purpose of this new finish is a bit to embody the new brand image of the manufacturer: a manufacturer who wants to think outside the box, both figuratively and literally. If the Spring has opted for a new blue color, it is a green shade – synonymous with nature, wide open spaces – which the Sandero Stepway, Duster and Jogger can take advantage of. Because driving a Dacia no longer has anything to be ashamed of, the name of the model is displayed in full on the roof bars with a copper-brown inscription. A color that can be found on the mirrors or the wheels. In the passenger compartment, there is a new coating supposed to resist more to the pangs of nature, and always some notes of coppery brown.

Because they don’t just want to pretend, the Sandero Stepway and Jogger also benefit from an Extended Grip function that adapts the ESP setting to give more grip in difficult conditions. Not so on the Duster, but there’s still the all-wheel-drive variant that’s truly off-road-ready.

And because the “vanlife” is being emulated at the moment, you can transform the Jogger’s cabin into a bedroom (for two people) with a so-called “Sleep” pack at €1,490 “if ordered at the same time than a new Jogger or €1,790 separately”.

Pay attention to the prices

This is starting to make the Jogger expensive which, without this option, already climbs to almost €27,000 (yes, yes!) in its highest configuration (hybrid engine and 7 seats). In general, if the supplement required is correct (200 € difference for example between a Sandero Stepway Extreme and the Expression model it replaces), we still end up with vehicles that are not cheap. The raised city car thus costs from €17,400 to €19,000 and the Duster from €21,300 to more than €25,000.

But hey, we’re not too worried about Dacia. On the one hand, customers tend to head for the higher liveries in priority, so much so that the really cheap appeal models have gradually disappeared. And, on the other hand, on the Sandero Stepway and the Jogger, the Extreme finish can be combined with the “Up&Go” option. A fully equipped model with a choice of engines and a very limited number of options, all in order to guarantee fast delivery. And these days, being able to get your car back without waiting months and months is obviously engaging…
