Lexus UX 300e: the electric SUV goes further but above all costs more

Unlike the thermal version, the technical improvements are more marked on the restyled variant of the 100% electrified Lexus UX. Alas, the prices too…

Last year, the Lexus UX benefited from touch-ups just as timid as the career it is pursuing in France. Because yes, even if it is the second best sale of the manufacturer on our territory, it sold barely more than a thousand copies in 2022, blah. In fact, was such a slight restyling very useful to help him progress? For the thermal version, it does not seem won. It should be easier for the revised and corrected zero-emission variant, presented later in the year, since the changes are more marked. Yes, but there is a but…

40% more autonomy

If the new RZ is the very first 100% electric vehicle signed Lexus, the UX was the very first model of the Toyota group (of which Lexus is the premium counterpart) to have been declined in such a variant when it was released. However, here too, the word that comes to mind concerning this first attempt is “timid”. It is not so much by its power that the UX 300e was ridiculous, 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque, it was more than enough despite the almost 1.8 t of the machine. On the other hand, with a battery with a capacity of 54.3 kWh, it could not work miracles in terms of autonomy. 313 km was really too short for a compact SUV to transport a small family.

Lexus has heard the critics. His new UX 300e isn’t more powerful, he didn’t need it, but his battery finally has a more than acceptable size: 72.8 kWh. Depending on the finish chosen, it can now travel almost 450 km on a single charge. It’s much better.

Up to €7,000 more!

All this has a price. The base price of the Japanese SUV rises from €49,990 to €56,900. Yes, almost €7,000 more! This takes it once and for all away from the €47,000 mark below which a vehicle is eligible for the ecological bonus. If your dealer might have agreed to lower the bill by €3,000 for you to enjoy, the difference is now far too great. And a BMW iX1 with a slightly lower range (438 km) but much more powerful (313 hp) starts slightly higher: €57,150. No frankly, Lexus did not go there with the back of the spoon!

All Lexus UX 300e (2023) prices:

  • Pack : 56 900 €
  • Luxe : 60 900 €
  • Executive : 67 900 €
