Honda could change the engine of Max Verstappen’s single-seater for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, which takes place in Jeddah on Sunday.

Once again, the engine penalties may rain this weekend, on the occasion of Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. According to rumors, Honda wishes change the engine of Max Verstappen’s Red Bull from this weekend in Jeddah.

the Nippon engine manufacturer would like to limit the reliability risks at the end of the season. If the rumor holds true over the weekend, the Dutchman will shoe a 5th internal combustion unit. He would therefore be sentenced toa penalty of 5 places on the starting grid, Sunday. Red Bull and Honda would therefore try a bet in the manner of Mercedes in Brazil, to compete with them in raw power.

Nevertheless, Red Bull has denied the rumor according to which their young champion would change engine this weekend. Helmut Marko told F1insider, that nothing is to be expected this weekend:

“A change of internal combustion engine is not planned for the moment in Saudi Arabia. If this were to be the case, it would happen in Abu Dhabi [dernière manche de la saison].«

The Austrian team fears a mechanical breakage and leaves room for doubt. It is important to know that every race weekend, the teams announce a possible change of engine between the two free practice sessions on Friday. So when we will be fixed on the question.
