Since the evening of March 6the employees of many refineries and fuel depots are on strike. The latter address their dissatisfaction with the pension reform. A renewable strike, for the CGT, which could unbalance the oil supply chain and create shortages.
To follow this, a interactive map of France is available. Created and managed by the application Essence&CO, it lists the stations experiencing partial or total fuel shortages in France. If the situation should not be catastrophic on March 7, it could worsen in the event of strong mobilization lasting over time.
Thus, at the time of writing these lines, 112 stations are out of fuel in the country. They are also 378 stations partially out of order.
Three to four months of fuel stock in France
If the specter of fuel shortages resurfaces, it is not a question of being alarmed at the moment. Witness Olivier Gantois, president of Ufip EM (French Union of Petroleum Industries, Energy and Mobility), interviewed by us:
“The stocks are full. To compare to the recent past, at the end of September 2022, stocks were very low. Remittances from the State and certain distributors had increased considerably on 1 September (30 centimes from the State, 20 from TotalEnergies). Suddenly, the attractiveness was high, which had an effect on stocks. »
“It is impossible to predict the lifespan of stocks. We can consider, in a vaguely indicative way, that we have between three and four months of consumption in stock. However, there are nuances by region. You have to look in detail, when you start to be in tension. »
