Honda wants a charging network like Tesla in the future

Honda is now a little more invested in the electric vehicle segment. If the Honda e won’t score…

Honda is now a little more invested in the electric vehicle segment. If the Honda e will not mark history with its specificities, the Japanese firm will review its way of doing things. It will join in particular with General Motor for this: the American group will provide it with the dedicated Ultium platform and will manufacture the first models sold under the Honda and Acura brands.

To this will be added later new electric models based on the e: platform of the Japanese firm, as well as the realization of the Afeela project developed in partnership with Sony. Quite a program for Honda, but the brand has other projects in store.

A branch specific to Honda electrics

This was stated by Toshihiro Mibe, CEO of Honda, at the microphone of Reuters. According to him, the brand plans to create a department entirely dedicated to electric vehicles. No shape has been specified for the time being, but this branch will most certainly be distinct from the historical H.

In addition, the Japanese boss also announced that the teams are considering the development of a Honda charging network: “the charging infrastructure is not where it should be for our customers”, he thus declared to justify this project. No timetable has been put forward at this time. Everything is built around the electric car at Honda. However, as usual with the Japanese, restraint is in order: “thermal engines could last until 2040 and beyond”, thus specified Toshihiro Mibe.
